Monetize your equipment when you are not using it

How many hours a day does some of your lab equipment just sit there, not being used? In our engineering lab it is easily half the time. That’s a lot of lost value and potential.

So why not do the most obvious thing: rent it out to people needing to use the equipment for a short time – just a few hours?

Yes, we are acutely aware of all the health and safety requirement and other restrictions you may have letting others into your lab space and using your equipment. Because of the way things work in labs, we propose you offer any of three options to monetize your equipment:

let the person come into the lab for the time needed
do the work for them (greater margin), and
for 3D printing, arrange for remote use, the person picking up the finished item.

You arrange everything directly with the person hiring, they sign all necessary documents and releases, you agree and they pay the fee to you directly.

What we do is provide a listing and marketing service. We offer you three months’ initial subscription for up to four pieces of equipment free of charge; thereafter our monthly fee is £10.00 /month for up to four pieces, £2 /month per piece per month thereafter
